Lounge 69

For a little bit of after-beach glamor the beautiful people of Ipanema head towards Lounge 69 on the corner of Farme De Amoedo and Prudente de Moraes, two of the neighborhood’s most vibrant streets. Offering up cutting-edge dance music and exotic cocktails, it is still an unassuming and laid-back bar that doesn’t lose itself in pretentiousness. Impressive lighting/visuals and an exciting array of DJs make Lounge 69 one for the more serious music enthusiast.

Nuth in Barra da Tijuca

It’s a trek from Ipanema and Leblon but the journey out to Nuth in Barra is well worth the effort. A gorgeous tropical-themed club-bar, it has a huge terrace out back furnished with benches and tables and overflowing with green palms and plants, that make it look like a jungle. Moody yellow lighting adds a golden glow to proceedings and if the décor makes you do a double-take, check out the scantily-clad Rio maidens with to-die-for bodies at the tables. A second-floor restaurant is popular early evening and it’s best to reserve seating, but sipping Caipirinhas, listening to samba or Latino house and chatting up those beach babes is the real reason to be here. Viva Rio!

Melt in Leblon

Places like Melt you can only find in Leblon.  A lounge where models meat their admirers in a lounge with candles.  Expensive drinks, colorful cocktails.  On the 1st floor there is a, quite small for the number of people, dance floor.

The restaurant and bar are very popular with the “high class” people.  The place is inspired by New York lounge bars: very dark, very relaxed, many sofas,…  The music mixes samba with techno, hip-hop and funk.  An ideal place to hook up with a Perua from Leblon, although having one will already help you getting through the long lines in the first place.

Casa da Matriz

If you’re out to explore the Rio de Janeiro nightlife, Casa de Matriz is a must! The nightclub is located in Botafogo and is a house with many rooms, bars and dancefloors. The feeling is almost like a home alone party, with ease to get to know people and great music.

Hard Rock Cafe

The city may have been named after the month of January, but Rio de Janeiro has a Hard Rock Cafe that welcomes everyone year-round. A carnival of delights awaits you in our expansive, memorabilia-packed restaurant, and we are conveniently located moments away from Rio’s fabulous sunny beaches. Our Amazonian portions are sufficient enough to satiate the hunger of any rock enthusiast, whether you’re fascinated by our great rock artifacts displayed on the walls, or the other great rock, nearby Sugar Loaf Mountain. So join the festival and stop by the Hard Rock Cafe Rio de Janeiro in beautiful Brazil.

Rio Scenarium

Known worldwide, Rio Scenarium owes its success to great live Brazilian music and one of the most unusual and attractive ambiences in Rio de Janeiro. The laidback bar and casa de shows attracts a mix of locals and foreigners.

Emporio 37

Nice bar frequented by many locals and equipped with cozy, wooden tables where you can have one or more bears. Fair prices and big drinks constitute this place, next to the fact, that a local atmosphere is retained.

Guapo Loco

This colorful Mexican restaurant and bar is one of Leblon’s livelier spots for the under-30 crowd. Things get rowdier as the night progresses, helped along no doubt by the wide variety of tequilas on hand. Guapo Loco also serves decent quesadillas, tacos and fajitas if hunger strikes after working the tiny dance floor.

Bunker 94

If you are in Rio and looking for the most popular alternative club then Bunker 94 is the choice. This is a place where people with various backgrounds come to enjoy high quality dance music. This place is friendly and is easy to make new friends among cariocas and tourists.

You will be able to hear and dance on the rhythms that you won’t have time to get bored off since there is another type of music played every day. The music varies from the 80s rock and roll to pop-rock and soul music. Drum’n’bass and electronic music have their own special place within this club and you will enjoy some of the finest songs here. Usually these sounds will be combined with techno and trance creating euphoric atmosphere easy. The red lights sure do the trick and give the impression of an unreal place. Patife and Mark are two talented DJs that you will find jamming at Bunker 94 if they are in Rio.

Academia da Cachaca

Although cachaça (cane liquor) has a bad reputation in some parts, here the fiery liquor is given a respect it nearly deserves. Along with tasty, inexpensive meals, this pleasant indoor-outdoor spot serves dozens of varieties of cachaça, and you can order it straight, with honey and lime, or disguised in a fruity caipirinha. For a treat (and/or a bad hangover), try the passion-fruit batida (cachaça and passion-fruit juice).
